Going back a few years INAC (now renamed ISC) has controlled and allocated capital to infrastructure projects to First Nations communities across Canada. Chief Dan George serves as a board member to BC First Nations Housing & Infrastructure Council who have begun to formulate a BC based organization that will replace ISC. Their goal is to develop the building authority for BC. Chief George outlines how this authority will work more closely with communities to develop infrastructure projects, especially in small communities who do not have the resources to submit applications at the level and within time restrictions for approval. Chief George goes on to explain that if successful British Columbia could set a precedent for the rest of Canada.
